Deer Hunting Gear at a Reasonable Cost

The point of this page is not to provide an exact cost for the reader, but to show him or her that you CAN buy the gear you need for deer hunting at a reasonable cost.

The gear here is the minimal amount you need, and the gear chosen is not the fanciest gear you could get. It will get you started. We hope that this page encourages every potential hunter that despite what the outdoor magazines would have you believe, normal folks can afford to hunt deer!

If your goal is to enjoy the outdoors and at the same time have a decent deer hunting setup, this gear will get you well on your way. The thing to do is get decent gear (not necessarily the very top of the line) to begin, take care of it and make it last, and then add to your collection as time goes buy and your budget allows.

There are possibly significant additional costs for shipping firearms as they must go through licensed dealers. Read carefully the Gunbroker instructions if you go this route. I have bought 4 or 5 firearms via Gunbroker and been very pleased with the value for the money. But, keep in mind, it is like EBay in many respects...check seller ratings, read descriptions of products, and look carefully at photographs provided. Finally, unless you are a very savvy person with regard to firearms, HAVE ANY USED FIREARM LOOKED OVER BY A GUNSMITH! When you have done all this, you will very likely come out way ahead on cost for your firearm, but will have peace of mind that you, a friend, or a loved one, will not be injured or worse.
