Spinning Gear for Missouri Trout ParksSo, you want to take up Missouri Trout Park fishing and you need to know what gear to bring, and perhaps are looking to get it for a reasonable price. Hopefully, we have taken some of the legwork out of the process for you. The gear we have listed here will get you off on the right foot - the catching part is up to you. We have located ALMOST all the gear you will require. In fact, assuming you will only be baitfishing you could get by on what we have listed here. We enjoy fishing with very light gear and thus have suggested the TinyLite Spinning Rod and Reel Combo. We suggest you spool 4 lb line on it and have suggested Stren Original Monofilament Fishing Line. Some people go with 2 lb line, but we have had much success with 4 lb. line and it gives you some breaking strength should you hook a bigger fish. For terminal tackle for baitfishing, we suggest Bass Pro Shops Baitholder Hooks in size 6 or 8 weighted with Bass Pro Shops Tin Removable Split-Shot Sinkers. We sometimes use a float but often fish the bottom. If you do plan to fish Missouri Trout Parks in the artificials-only sections, we have had a lot of success with the Panther Martin Sonic Spinner. We would also suggest stopping by the Park Store, which you will have to do anyhow for your tags, and pick up a selection of Maribou Jigs and Glow-Balls. We usually have success with the colors pink, white, orange, red, and occasionally black. We suggest 1/64th ounce Maribous and #12 Glow Balls. You will need a stringer and a net we hope, and optionally you might want waders as the spring-fed trout parks is chilly- even in Summer. To purchase these items through Bass Pro (you will receive the same price as if you navigated directly to the page), we suggest that you right click one of the icons and the Bass Pro page will open in a new tab. You will then be able to go back and forth between this page and the Bass Pro page to get all you need. In the interest of full disclosure, we receive a small commission on purchases you make using this process. The trout parks are a lot of fun and are great entry into trout fishing. Many folks start off spin fishing a trout park and before long find themselves waste-deep in a Western stream. So be careful...it is an addictive pasttime. |
