Texas Hill CountryBack to Top TenThe Texas Hill Country is a true gem for just about any angler. The most widespread opportunity here is smallmouth bass fishing. The Devils River and the Rio Grande below Lake Armistad are the best known smallmouth fisheries, but there are many other good streams, which include the San Marcos, Llano, and the Brazos River. Believe it or not, the Hill Country is also home to one of the world's best trout stream's, the Guadalupe. The Guadalupe is a tailwater that is Texas's only year-round trout stream, and rivals the San Juan and the Colorado River as the Southwest's best trout stream. It is a quirky trout stream, but it is very productive. All in all, this part of Texas provides world class bass and trout fishing in a truly unique environment. |
