Ozark National Scenic RiverwaysCamping at Cabin at Canyon Creek in MontanaWe stayed several days here at Canyon Creek Cabin in The Beaverhead-Lodge National Forest. The cabin was perfect for our family's needs. It is rustic, but as long as you come prepared to do a bit of cleaning at the outset will serve your needs very well. There is fishing primarily for brook trout as well as a few cutthroat in the creek beside the cabin. The better fishing is however a few miles upstream by road in the meadows. Wildlife including moose, deer, and bear are abundant here. Mountain goats can occasionally be spotted on the cliffs above the cabin. Bring water and plenty of ice if you will need it. The trek to the nearest town, Melrose is 13 miles which will take you approximately 45 minutes one way in nice weather. The road is rough, but doable in nice weather, even in a two-wheel drive car. Bring a good spare tire as your chances for cell reception or any kind of services are unilkely. For more on this trip through South Dakota, Wyoming, and Montana, visit Month Long Trip West
