Jedediah Smith Campground

Footbrige over the Smith River near Jedediah Smith Campground

If you want to see the Redwoods of Northern California, there's no better place to do so than Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park (part of the NPS system) and the Jedediah Smith Campground is a great base of operations for your explorations.

The campground is shady and cool with great seclusion between spacious campsites.  The sites almost all have majestic redwoods growing right in your site.  Summer, and especially summer weekends are busy and reservations are highly suggested.

From your base of operations at the campground you will have access by foot to some trails, swimming and fishing in the beautiful Smith River, and a really nice place to relax between adventures.

Do a little homework before you arrive to plan your visit to make sure you see places like the Boy Scout Tree (see right) on the  Boy Scout Trail. Right across the foot bridge over the Smith River is a must see, the Stout Grove Trail.

Reservations for the area can be made through the California State Parks site.
